Israel’s air bombardment on Gazza, which killed or injured more than one thousand people, has been the most ferocious attack in a single day for the last 60 years on the Palestinian territories. The attack has once again proved that Israel has no moral grounds whatsoever. The Israeli aggression is not only an insult to the Muslim and Arab world, but also an insult to the so called democracy preachers, the USA and the EU.

While Arab dictators have been cracking down on the opposition for the sake of sustaining themselves in power, they have made Muslims and Arabs suffer the indignity of being slapped on the face by Israel. Not only Arab countries, other Muslim countries including Turkey has made little effort to stand up against Israeli massacre of Palestinians.

In the last couple of days we have also once again seen the Western double standards against Palestinians and their reprensentative HAMAS. When Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad expressed the ongoing Israeli aggression against Palestinians and other nations, saying ‘Israel should be wiped off the map of earth’, the western politicans had suddenly turned out to be hawks and declared that the Iranian president was planning a second genocide against Jews. But the long-lasting Israeli genocide perpetrated against Palestinians on the occupied territories is a trivial matter for the US and EU’s politicans.

For them a ‘democratic country’ like Israel has all the rights to kill to keep itself alive. ‘Kill to keep yourself alive’ is also a remedy for the West. How else the killings in Afghanistan and Iraq or elsewhere would be explained? As well as defiying the rules set by the so called international community, in fact set by the West, by continuing occupation and killings on the Palestinian territories, Israel has ignored the condemnations by the United Nations thanks to those preaching to us democracy, human rights and other so called ‘universal values’.

They (the West) complain about lack of democracy in the Muslim world, but they can’t help themselves supporting the dictatorships up there in order to prevent an Islamic opposition not to rule, no matter the Islamic opposition be democratic. They have funded Egyptian Hosni Mubarak with millions of Dollars to keep the Muslim Brotherhood under control, but they still lecture the values of democracy to us without shame. The same policy was applied in Palestine and Mahmoud Abbas was awarded with millions of dollars to keep HAMAS away from ruling. When this policy failed, they then did everything they could to marginalise HAMAS.

What do they expect from HAMAS, a group associated with Palestinian resistance against aggressive and occupier Israel? Should HAMAS deny its argument and give in to Israel? Would that not be against your so called ‘universal values’ such as democracy, human rights, people’s rights to save their land? Would that not be a denial of your ‘universal values’?

The West has lost its all arguments by giving an unproportional support to Israel and whatever they argue about the merit of democracy is now seen nothing other than a cover for its interests in the Middle East. Therefore, their calls on Israel to stop its attacks on Gazza remain meaningless.
